This lesson was designed for a 1st grade classroom on a distance learning platform. This lesson combines the usage of word problems and identifying the concept of true and false. This video teaches to the following California State Standards: Operations & Algebraic Thinking 1.0A.

Speaking and Listening Standards K–5 (1)

Too Much Glue!

In this lesson I was only able to capture the first portion of the where I conduct a read aloud of the story "Too Much Glue". The second part of the lesson took place at a later time as we had a virtual field trip.

Art Videos

With an extensive background in art I always aim to create cross curricular learning opportunities that incorporate the arts. When the pandemic began in March 2020 I began creating weekly videos for the Kindergarten class I worked with.

During the 2020-2021 School year I teamed up with the 2nd grade educators at Beethoven St. Elementary to create weekly art lessons that touched on the topics and standards being taught in the classroom.

More art.

Kandinsky Circles

In this video we create concentric circles utilizing paper, water color, paint brushes, and water. This project is bright, colorful and dares students to experiment with color.

Nature Self Portrait

In this video we create a self portrait utilizing paper, glue, and a collection of leaves and flowers. Students were asked to gather leaves and flowers the day before the lesson so that they would be prepared for the lesson.

Thanksgiving Turkeys

We utilize a multitude of supplies you can find around your home to create an adorable turkey for Thanksgiving. We used a tie dye technique with watercolor markers, water, and coffee filters. The students really enjoyed this activity!
